Back Pain That Controls Your Life Doesn't Have to Stay That Way.

Back pain is the most common chronic pain condition in the world, and one of the hardest to actually fix. If you’ve been managing it with medication, injections, or just learning to live around it, SoftWave offers a real alternative that works at the source.

It Goes Deeper
Than a Pulled Muscle.

Most chronic back pain has a structural or degenerative cause that rest, heat, and over-the-counter medication can temporarily dull but never actually address. Here are the most common causes Dr. Sandy sees at Key to Health.

Herniated or Bulging Discs

When a disc in the lumbar spine pushes out of position, it compresses nearby nerves and creates sharp, radiating pain that can shoot into the hips, glutes, and legs.

Lumbar Osteoarthritis

Cartilage between the spinal vertebrae wears down over time, causing the joints to grind, inflame, and stiffen. The degeneration is gradual but the pain it produces is constant.

Sciatica

When the sciatic nerve gets compressed or irritated, pain radiates from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg. Sciatica is usually a symptom of a deeper structural issue rather than a standalone condition.

Scar Tissue from Old Injuries

Prior sprains, strains, accidents, and surgeries leave behind scar tissue that restricts spinal movement, alters posture, and creates chronic pain patterns that compound over time.

Degenerative Disc Disease

As discs lose hydration and structural integrity with age, the cushioning between vertebrae breaks down and leads to bone-on-bone friction, nerve irritation, and persistent stiffness.

Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction

The joints connecting the spine to the pelvis can become inflamed or misaligned, causing deep, aching low back pain that frequently gets misidentified as a disc or muscle problem.

Temporary Relief Isn't the Same as Healing.

You’ve probably already tried one or more of the following. Here’s why it doesn’t work permanently:

Medication

Anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers reduce pain signals while active. The moment they wear off, the underlying damage is still there and the cycle starts over.

Cortisone Injections
Injections reduce inflammation quickly but temporarily. Most patients are limited to a few per year, and repeated use can accelerate disc and cartilage breakdown over time.

Physical Therapy
PT builds strength in the surrounding musculature and can improve function, but it doesn’t repair damaged discs, break down scar tissue, or address the root cause of nerve compression.

Surgery
Sometimes the right call, but it comes with significant recovery time, real risk, and no guarantee of lasting results. Many back surgery patients report only partial improvement or a return of symptoms within a few years.

Frequently Asked Questions About SoftWave Therapy

Everything you want to know about SoftWave therapy before you come in.

Most patients with chronic back pain see meaningful results within 6 to 12 sessions. The exact number depends on the underlying cause, how long you’ve been dealing with it, and how your body responds. Dr. Sandy will give you a realistic estimate after your consultation.
Yes. Sciatica is caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, which is often the result of a herniated disc or spinal inflammation. SoftWave reduces the inflammation contributing to that compression and stimulates tissue repair in the affected area, which typically reduces or eliminates the radiating leg pain.
Yes. Herniated and bulging lumbar discs are one of the conditions SoftWave addresses most effectively. The acoustic waves reduce inflammation around the disc and stimulate repair in the surrounding tissue, taking pressure off the nerve and reducing pain.
In many cases yes. Post-surgical pain, residual nerve irritation, and scar tissue from spinal procedures are all areas where SoftWave has shown meaningful results. Bring your surgical history to your consultation and Dr. Sandy will give you an honest assessment.
No. Most patients describe the sensation as a gentle pulsing or tapping. It’s not painful and requires no anesthesia or numbing of any kind.
