Temporary Relief Isn't the Same as Healing.
Medication
NSAIDs and pain medications manage the inflammatory response but do nothing to repair cartilage, heal tendons, or address labral damage. Long-term use carries its own risks and the pain reliably returns when the medication stops.
Cortisone Injections
A cortisone shot into the hip joint can provide several weeks or months of relief but the effect diminishes with each subsequent injection. More importantly, repeated cortisone use has been linked to accelerated cartilage breakdown, which makes the underlying condition worse over time.
Physical Therapy
Strengthening the muscles around the hip can reduce stress on the joint and improve function significantly. But PT doesn’t regenerate cartilage, heal a torn labrum, or resolve chronic tendon degeneration at the cellular level.
Surgery
For severe osteoarthritis, hip replacement is often the end destination. But it’s a major procedure with a lengthy recovery, real surgical risk, and an implant that has a finite lifespan. Many patients want to delay or avoid it entirely, and SoftWave gives them a meaningful option for doing that.
If Your Hip Pain Fits Any of These, SoftWave Is Worth a Conversation.
- Chronic hip pain lasting more than a few weeks
- Hip osteoarthritis at any stage
- Trochanteric bursitis or hip bursitis
- Labral tears or hip impingement
- Hip tendinopathy or tendon degeneration
- Referred hip pain from lumbar disc or SI joint issues
- Hip pain that hasn't responded to medication, PT, or injections
- "I limp by the end of the day and I'm only in my 50s"
- "My hip hurts so much I can't sleep on that side anymore"
- "The cortisone worked twice and then it just stopped"
- "My doctor says it's bone on bone but I'm not ready for a replacement"
- "The pain wraps around into my groin and I don't know where it's coming from"
- "I've stopped doing things I love because of this hip"

The SoftWave Process at Key to Health
From your first conversation to your personalized SoftWave treatment plan, here’s how the process will unfold.
Initial Consultation
Dr. Sandy will sit down with you to talk through your pain, your history, and your goals. It’s a no-pressure conversation to make sure SoftWave is the right fit before anything else happens.
There’s no commitment required and no hard sell. Just an honest conversation about what you’ve been dealing with and whether SoftWave makes sense for you.
SoftWave Session
The SoftWave device is applied directly to the area of concern. You’ll feel a gentle pulsing sensation as the acoustic waves get to work on the damaged tissue underneath.
The treatment is non-invasive and comfortable, with no anesthesia and no preparation needed beforehand.
Most sessions take around 15 minutes from start to finish.
Ongoing Treatment Plan
Dr. Sandy will put together a plan tailored to your specific condition and the results she sees from your first session. Most patients see the best results over a series of sessions, and she’ll walk you through exactly what that looks like for you.
Every plan is different because every patient is different, and Dr. Sandy will make sure yours fits your life and your schedule.
